BULK WATER DEDECTOR
There are several water dedection methods used to detect water in jet fuel. By use of these devices the amount of dissolved water is detected in fuel which shall not exceed 30 ppm.
But is there any device or dedector which detects bulk/free water in jet fuel?
Shell Global Solutions have produced a bulk water testing device which will be used on aviation fuelling dispensers to detect bulk water in jet fuel. The device will respond to 100% water in a flowing system and provide a suitable output signal. This device will operate in jet fuel and will not be sensitive to very low levels of water. During the usage of this device fuel doesn’t need to be withdrawn from line and filled to a visi-jar. It will be simply inserted into the system and shall be reset after activitation. The device will be easily installed and needs minimum maintenance.
Bulk water dedector will not determine the quantitiy of bulk water in the fuel system instead it will only detect the presence of bulk water in the flowing system.
The bulk water dedector which is produced to test whether simple water dedection devices could provide an option for detection of bulk/free water on aviation fuelling dispensers and provide an additional shutdown device in the event of a slug water in the system, will be evaluated by EI Equipment Sub-Committee.
