INTERLOCK SYSTEM AND WHEEL CHOCKS DURING REFUELLING

WHEEL CHOCKS
Wheel chocks shall not be used during refuelling an aircraft if the refueller is equipped with an interlock system which prevents the vehicle from run-away, drive away and jet blast blow away when its activated.
 Some componets of the refueller such as fuelling nozzles, hydrant inlet couplers, lift platforms, fuelling cabinet covers and bottom loading connections are connected to the interlock system. The refueller doesn’t move if one these componets are not stowed in their normally positions. If the refueller needs to be removed from the aircraft in an emergency situation the interlock override seal which is located in the refueller cabin shall be broken to deactivate the interlock system.
In order to remove the refueller from the aircraft in an emergency situation breaking the interlock seal is enough. Wheel chocks shall not be used during refuelling where its not mandorary by local authorities.
According to IATA and JIG standarts wheel chocks shall not be used to ensure safe refuelling.
